A brief history of men's swimwear
Swimming costumes have come a long way since men first went to the seaside on holiday and saltwater bathing became fashionable at the end of the 19th century, recognised by doctors for its beneficial effects on the body.
At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, it was unseemly for men to show their torsos on the beach. Suits stopped at the calves and were long-sleeved. These uncomfortable men's swimming costumes gradually gave way to toppers or tight-fitting wetsuits as swimming became more popular, allowing the arms to be visible, but not the torso. It wasn't until 1932 and the arrival of the Tarzan briefs that men were finally able to bare their chests.
Ride the wave of style with CAFÉ COTON swimwear
For over 10 years, CAFÉ COTON has been brightening up your afternoons on the beach by offering you the most unique swimwear possible, to make you stand out from the crowd. Our catalogue includes a wide range of floral and more original designs, such as the "watermelon" model. The colours are bright and tangy, giving you the energy to get out of your towel and go for a swim.
We also offer a range in Seersucker. This fabric is made up of a taut cotton thread and a looser one, which gives it its distinctive wavy appearance. In practice, this translates into a model with white and coloured stripes.
Our models have a small adjustable string so you don't have to worry about any accidents during your best dives. The technicality and comfort of our swimwear are second to none, as are its qualities, which are sure to please. The fabric is supple, comfortable and quick-drying. A little detail not to be overlooked: the eyelets and tips are rustproof.
Our team's advice on how to keep your swimwear looking its best.
We recommend that you always rinse your swimming costume in clean water before wringing it out and leaving it to dry after each use. When washing your swimming costume, place it in a separate net and do not mix it with your other clothes, so that the quality lasts. Our models should be washed at 30 degrees.
